afk from an art tablet?

long ago i had an art tablet (which terribly malfunctions now and wont work anymore, but ive never been a very good digi artist anyways) and i had to go afk a lot, so i was just wondering, what should one do with their tablet when they afk a lot? should i had unplugged it? paint it red? fed it chickens? pls give me advice for future ref in case i do get another tablet :) THANK YOU AND MUCH APPRECIATED!
